Penang PAS Youth has threatened to boycott the Permatang Pauh by-election campaign in the latest sign of the chronic divisions within Pakatan Rakyat.
According to the PAS chapter’s Youth wing, it will not help campaign for the poll unless its DAP and PKR counterparts retract recent remarks made about the Islamist party’s president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and hudud.
Penang PAS Youth chief Mohd Yusni Mat Piah was quoted by Berita Harian saying this was because PKR had allegedly questioned Hadi’s loyalty by asking him to clarify his stand on an “Umno-PAS unity government” while DAP had opposed PAS’s hudud agenda.
“We are purposely not joining the Permatang Pauh by-election campaign because we are urging Penang PKR and DAP Youth to retract those statements.
“Any form of cooperation will only take place once they have retracted their statements. We will wait for them to take action,” Mohd Yusni was quoted saying.
Lim said Hadi had lied to his Pakatan partners by failing to consult PKR and DAP before making his move.
“By breaking his own promise, it is no longer about his democratic right, it is about being cheated by Hadi. Don’t promise things you can’t deliver.
“I am not questioning his democratic right, he has the right. But don’t do it as a Pakatan MP.
Guan Eng pernah kata, TG Haji Hadi ini penipu dan pembohong. Kita rasa, ini kenyataan orang mabuk. Tak baik begitu.
