A political analyst has lent his support to the idea that PAS should not re-nominate Abdul Hadi Awang for the party presidency at its next elections.

Responding to a suggestion by a former PAS Youth official, Jeniri Amir of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak’s Social Sciences Faculty said the party needed a president capable of leading it through the changing times.

In an interview with Sinar Harian, Jeniri also said the PAS president had to be someone willing and able to strengthen the party’s relations with its Pakatan Rakyat partners.

The party elections are due in the middle of this year.

The proposal that Hadi be dropped came from a recent Facebook posting by former PAS Youth executive councillor Zulhazmi Sharif. He suggested that Hadi should instead by nominated to replace the ailing Nik Abdul Aziz Mat as the party’s spiritual leader.

Pada ana, orang macam Jeniri ini tidak ada harga diri. Kejap ke tepi. Kejap ke tengah. Kejap puji. Kejap balun. Kejap lambung. Kejap bentis. Kejap lompat. Kejap terkangkang.

Weii Jeniri, pemikiran ko ini ibaratnya macam kampungan sangat. Tak layak nak ulas pasal Pas. Ko elok jaga Sarawak sahaja. Tak perlu nak tunjuk bijak sangat, sedangkan ko tak lah bijak mana pun.

Kami tahu apa kami buat.
